Congratulations Kami & Alan!

We felt so lucky to be a part of this beautiful couple’s special day. Despite the incredibly cold weather that day, fortunate however that it didn’t snow, the cheerful and fun personalities and happiness of the occasion warmed us all up! What a sweet couple they are and we wish them a life filled with happiness and dreams come true.

Congratulations to the gorgeous couple, Tiffany & Deon!!!!! The wedding venue of the Shupe Homestead was nothing less than spectacular!

Thank you so much Tiffany and Deon for having us photograph your very momentous and blessed day! You and your families were indeed a pleasure to work with. The venue of the Shupe Homestead was simply marvelous with its stunning mountain views, incredible landscaping and plantings centered around the romantic and picturesque pond. Please, those of you who are not aware of the Shupe Homestead, follow this link. http://www.shupehomestead.com/  We will be giving you sneak peaks of the images daily, and therefore, would like for you to check back regularly to view more images within this post from this beautiful wedding. Thank you for checking in!

This father daughter moment had us very emotional! A very special time indeed.

Please take a look at this picture closely! To the right of the wedding altar, there fluttering about, is a huge Tiger Swallowtail butterfly! There were two that showed up fluttering side by side right before the ceremony, and we caught this one before it went on its merry way.

Meningitis Angels

This last Thursday and Friday I had the honor of shooting images for the National Awareness campaign of Meningitis Angels. After losing her only child, Ryan, to meningococcal meningitis, Frankie Milley started the Meningitis Angels foundation with the goal of educating people to get vaccinated against this horrific disease. Thursday we shot with 11 dads of Meningitis victims that came from all around the world to be a part of this weekend’s events along with Frankie. Friday was spent shooting several victims from 2-3 years old all the way to adults. Most of these victims have lost limbs, hearing, fingers and toes and two of the youngest boys have lost both their legs, arms, and parts of their faces. One thing they all had in common, what they have lost has been replaced with amazingly positive attitude, faith, heart and a strong desire to save other people’s lives. My son was asked to be in some of the shots too. Having Down Syndrome, he is at a much higher risk to Meningitis and he will be in a poster bringing attention to the fact that all children with special needs are at greater risk. Meeting Frankie and all these people has been life changing for our family. These people are truly “Angels.”

Meningitis Angels and Sierra’s Race Against Meningitis is spreading the message, “GET VACCINATED”! Young kids are particularity at risk. Kids can get vaccinated for Meningitis after a child turns 2. Meningitis Angels have the most amazing stories, and they’re here saving lives! My heart is overflowing. I’m amazed at the amazing power of God’s love working with great force and power through these individuals. A simple vaccination can save your life, and that’s the simple message they’re trying to spread.

So Thankful for these loving organizations for spreading the WORD to GET VACCINATED for Bacterial Meningitis ~~

Please check out these two websites to find out more including how and where you can get vaccinated as soon as possible.
It comes like a horrible storm, leaving a path of destruction, taking limbs, faces, and lives. This storm can be prevented with a simple shot.

My family and I met a sweet boy (7 yrs old) from Meningitis Angels foundation who lost his legs, arms, and part of his face in March 2010. He is still undergoing surgery to repair his sweet face grafting skin from other parts of his body to his face.

It’s way too easy for us to turn our back to this and say it would never happen to us but Bacterial Meningitis took the lives of two hockey players from Fort Collins last year. Two lives that would be here today with a simple shot.

What’s the difference

So far it’s been a record season for re-shooting seniors — seniors whose parents tried to save money by going to the cheapest photographer they could find or even trying to do it themselves. If you care about quality then I can tell you, the most expensive way to take senior pictures is go the cheap route first. Ask yourself, how do you want to be remembered? Hopefully, you would want the best image possible of yourself and an image that flatters you.

With the economy taking a dive for the last two years, many people have lost their jobs. Some have gone on to find other jobs; some have not. A lot of those who have not, realized that if they own a digital camera, they claim they are a professional photographer. How hard can it be, right? And then, sadly a lot of people that are in need of a photographer, lump us all together in one big melting pot of no distinguishment. A photographer is a photographer right? Just pick the least expensive one. It’s easy. Well I ask you, do you buy the cheapest car you can find, the cheapest shoes, the cheapest pair of jeans? The cheapest vacation spot? Then why the cheapest photographer? This is why there are three times as many photographers in Larimer and Weld county compared to two years ago.

The camera is just a tool. Like a guitar, it takes an artist that has studied and practiced for years to make it sing. Most of these “new” photographers don’t have a clue what half the functions on their camera are and how to use them. So many I’ve seen, their skin tones look dead, lifeless and unnatural. I’m a perfectionist at my craft and having my camera settings perfect, my lighting perfect and processing perfect so that am able to give you rich, vibrant skin tones, and color the way it naturally should be. Plus, they don’t even have a business license, no tax license, no insurance, no studio, no Prolab; they just give you a CD of images for you to print. That’s about like buying a car with no engine. How a print is made is half of the art of having a beautiful print you can be proud of and get compliments after compliments from people who see it on your wall. You will walk by your wall, and say to yourself, I’m really glad we did that. Sorry, but Walgreens or Sam’s Club can’t do what a good professional Prolab can do. There is a night and day difference. Our prints are done on true archival silver halide photographic paper by the best Prolab in the country.

Here is another scary thing. Some of these photographers are now printing their pictures themselves on inkjet printers. They get paper that says Kodak or Fuji on the back and hey, you know, it may appear o-k. But it’s not archival. In 5 years it’s going to look like grandma’s old snapshots. There are a lot of shortcuts in this business, I’ve just named a few. They do allow for cheaper prices, but at a big cost down the road.

I’ve made my living as an artist all my life, for the last 12 years painting with a camera and light. Every year I go to workshops to study with the masters in the art of photography and study posing, and how to pose different body types and faces for the most flattering image. I keep up on the latest software and camera advancements. I promise you, we take NO shortcuts. With us, every step is done with the final image quality in mind. Many photographers shoot several clients a day. I don’t, I can’t. I have over 10 hours of work invested in every shoot because I do it all by hand. Being the best at your craft isn’t easy. I am an artist, a skilled and technical photographer, a professional at this craft. Making my clients happy makes me happy, and my mission is to provide them with art on their wall of them and their loved ones that they can be proud of forever.

Photoshoots in All Seasons!!!

There’s no better time than the present! Outdoor photoshoots in the different seasons offer marvelous variety and excitement! Whether it’s 10 or 100 degrees, each climate condition offers its own unique background and feel to a shot. These shots were done after a recent snowfall, thanks to this stunning model, Ali, who had a great attitude and was happily willing to come out even with the 10 degree weather conditions. Since it was so cold, the snow stayed on the ground offering a great background for some wintery images which is what we had in mind to accomplish!
